We love SYH!!!

We moved to Summit County in December 2018.  Killoren mentioned before the move that she wanted to try hockey.  We had been involved in many sports but certainly not hockey.  We didn't even have ice where we moved from.  I took it in passing and thought she would let it go.

When the new school year started to approach she asked again to play.  With the cost and lack of knowledge we thought there was no possible way.  I looked up Summit Youth Hockey just to see the actual cost and what was involved.  With the free mite program and equipment swap we really didn't have a reason to say no.  From day one, SYH has been amazing.  We show up for the equipment swap, me being clueless, and Dan swoops in and immediately starts getting K fitted for ALL of the gear she needed right down to the skates. 

Over the next year, Killoren learned to skate and continued to progress under the wonderful guidance of Brian Guard.  Our next year was a little bumpy with Covid but the SYH leadership worked tirelessly to make sure our kids had a season.  Killoren continued to grow as a Squirt B and her love for the game grew even more. 

During her second season she had the opportunity to cross over and play with the U12 girls.  At first, she did not want to "play with the girls".  After her first game she was all about it.  Playing U12 was just a different overall experience for her.  This season she was all in U12 and it was an amazing season.  She is faster, stronger, and has a greater knowledge of the game and the fire has been lit.  Geoff Palmer and Andrea Rosenthal took the U12 players to another level. 

I honestly do not think any of those girls would have developed and grown like they did this past season had they not played U12.  Summit Youth Hockey is an amazing organization and the people involved in all aspects are what make it such a special experience.  We are developing lifelong friendships for both the parents and players. 

The Caldwells are hooked on Hockey and hooked on SYH.
