Team Traveled to Aspen Fall Faceoff

Squirt 'A' had a great start to the season at the Aspen Fall Face Off!

In the first game against DU they jumped out with a goal in the first minute in what ended up being an offensive heavy game. With a 5-5 score early in the 3rd period, Summit turned up the pressure and came out with a 9-6 win.

Later in the day the team took on NCYH. Summit got out to a slow start and fell behind early but great coaching kept them motivated and believing in themselves. Summit came roaring back from a 4-1 deficit at the start of the 3rd with some smart passing and key saves in net to pull out a 4-4 tie.

The Saturday game against CSAHA was a back and forth battle. Teams were evenly matched in a very tightly called game with a number of power plays on both sides. Summit played great as a team to pull ahead with a one goal lead in the 3rd period that they held thanks in large part to some critical late saves. A fantastic team effort for a 5-4 win.

The Sunday morning game against the undefeated Arapahoe Navy was a challenge and the team really stepped up. Summit had a lot of great scoring chances but impressive goaltending kept the team off the board until into the 2nd when some key assists enabled us to get a couple through. The kids worked hard on the boards and battled until the end. The final score was 5-2 but the game was closely matched and hard fought throughout.

Aside from the great play on the ice, the team had a wonderful time enjoying a park picnic in downtown Aspen and lots of pool and hot tub time at the hotel in Basalt. Great job, Summit!
